Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Anyone had viruses/computer problems resulting from downloading torrents from etree and LL?

Had a bunch of memory problems with my last laptop of a few years that after a while I just put down to the age of it. However, the problems I got did coincide with downloading torrents.

Now I've got a new laptop, started downloading 1973 Project 3 and got a memory problem cropping up again. (Project 3 was the torrent I was last downloading before my previous laptop died)

Anyone had any bad experience with any GD related torrents?

Never had any problems at etree, LL,Workingmans none of them, I've never had a problem with ANY GD torrent, even the standing on the moon I grabbed from Limewire LOL, 99% of the crap I got from there has Maleware, Whose your Bittorrent client, theres only a few of those I trust, but most GD sites won't let you use spammers like Bit Comet, or BT ( I like Bit Tornado but you can't seed w/ it so most sites won't let you use it) Pirate Bay and Isohunt has givin me bugs but never on a GD torrent, but you never know, its ALWAYS a good idea to scan all your downloads before you open them,

Maybe you have a RAM issue. Vista and Windows 7 are notorious resource hogs, and low-end computer manufacturers are selling many systems with the bare minimum RAM. My newest computer with Vista was loaded with 1GB ram (the bare minimum to run Vista), and crashed a heck of a lot. I replaced it with 4GB (2x2GB), and have since had no problems.

Never.
These folks do not put spyware or "trojans" into torrents. Never had a problem with bt.etree, LL, or anybody else who I can think of.

Do you scan your computer for spyware? What kind of anti-virus software do you use?
Programs installed in your new lap top you don't need or use maybe?

I run a scan every other day and I've installed Anti-Vir and AVG. Installed five programs since getting it.

The computer crashes, goes to blue screen and mentions memory dumping.
